Our Corporation
The Gift of Giving Foundation, in partnership with The Seattle Foundation, is a non-profit 501(c)(3) Corporation committed to increasing the quality and quantity of volunteer opportunities for youth in the Shoreline School District. We are a volunteer organization of parents, friends, and community leaders who wish to strengthen the scale, effectiveness, and sustainability of youth service.
Our Plan
Any public school in the Shoreline School District may join the President's Student Service Challenge in conjunction with The Gift of Giving Foundation. Representatives from interested schools are encouraged to contact us to receive a Statement of Responsibilities. For a school to participate, a school official or PTA volunteer signs a one-page Statement of Responsibilities in which the school agrees to:
- Reinforce the importance of student service and promote the President's Student Service Challenge.
- Identify a PTA representative to be the program coordinator, who serves as the school leader and is responsible for all follow through.
- The U.S. Government charges $2 per award that will be paid for by your school; however, if your school is unable to fund the cost of these awards, The Gift of Giving Foundation agrees to cover this cost.
- Any participating school that meets a 5% goal will receive the School ofService Award from the Gift of Giving Foundation. These schools will be honored with a plaque and banner.
- All High School Seniors who meet the specified program requirements will be eligible to apply for scholarship funds. Four scholarships of $5,000 each will be awarded annually to students selected by The Gift of Giving Foundation Advisory Council.
